毛姆作品中的现实主义风格已成为广大读者的共识,众多文学研究者却认为其对现实主义手法的固守未能在20世纪初这一新的历史语境下充分表现出生活的真谛。然而,在现代主义思潮风起云涌的年代里,毛姆的创作同样深受影响。《月亮与六便士》在叙事技巧方面较鲜明地体现出现代主义特征,其对有限叙述视角、心理时间以及空间叙事的运用体现出毛姆在创作技巧上的求新求变,使得这部现实主义小说因其现代主义叙事技巧的出色运用而贴合变化了的社会现实。
Abstract：Maugham's realistic style is commonly acknowledged.Maugham,whose holding on to realism is viewed by many literary critics as a failure to reflect the truth of life in such a new historical background as the beginning of the 20 th century,is deeply influenced by modernist thoughts,however.Such modernist narrative techniques as limited point of view,psychological time and space narrative in The Moon and Sixpence prove Maugham's pursuit of newness in writing techniques,so that this realist novel manages to reflect the changing social reality because of its excellent application of modernist narrative techniques.
